No Superman

Do your deeds alone make you heroic?
Does that heroism rise from within?
Just consider Ben Stokes’ heroics,
During England’s eventual win.

He can do everything, and he did it,
Batting slowly with Sibley at first,
Showed restraint and control and attritional skills,
With his boundaries colourful bursts.

When three figures came up so his rate did,
Hollow blasts into echoing stands,
Took the old ball on later and used it,
Held the whole of the game in his hands.

No superman, Stokes, but a hero,
Shown his skills with the bat and the ball,
To bring England back into the series,
With one test left to play, its one all.
